For some reason I always turn to the centre pages when I get UD. Kind of a habit.

Glad I did this time. This poem is amazing.

The sense of place and movement within a city that's alive. The sense of alienation and connectedness both at the same time. The sense of lost chances, and how we regret them. This part:

'while sitting on the brick stair steps,
I scanned the sky,
and asked my others
of the universes beyond,
why it is that I should feel,
ashamed of myself'

Wow. I've been there so many times, and in the context of the poem it means even more.

This is one I'll be rereading.

Carter.

tell it, carter.  this is one of the best poems in the issue, i think.  that whole shocking moment when you realize, fuck, i've been going about this whole thing all wrong...

the whole 'men of knowledge' theme is really familiar, but i can't recall where i know it from.  anyone have any guesses?
