My friend lived in Portland and when I went to visit him, we took a scenic drive through the country to see the waterfalls.  It was rainy and overcast the whole time I was there, except the evening before the day I left.  All of the sudden I could see a huge mountain/volcano when the skies cleared.  I didn't make it to see the Pacific Ocean though, so now I have a reason to go back (probably mid state California next time).
