'Take me up on this', something told him as he stared up at the sky, rocking back and forth just a little. Sifting the night from the dark, and the blue flickers from things so lost out there. 'You are the man as a point on earth'.

Lately he'd been remiss on the myths created down here; whys on how love is not black and white yet conditional. Can he rely on his need for her when thinking too much never won him some space? Abandonment set in as fear.

Caught between this knowledge and the truth that feelings are inequal if not shared, insight the smart man's body language, he was scared he'd betrayed all the same what she showed full-on as his doubt. Her words running down from her eyes.

So he'd walked and he'd talked in circles around the parlour and to himself till the afternoon faded to dusk. Then he sat in the dark and the cold like the martyr he felt entitled to be;
smoked roll-ups and drank Special Brew.

Now the night and the pinch in the air at the back door, then stepping outside; something unknown told him to go there. And the sky and its night and its stars breathed a whisper on being alone.'Take me up on this, you are the man as a point on earth'.

He closed his eyes for just a moment, breathed out and turned; went back inside and picked up the phone.
