Daylight, where is the daylight?
Is it dawn or has the dawn gone?
My capsule, my cocoon protects me
no longer, again. Minutes are hours.
I have no vodka left; the clock cheats me.

I knew it was time
by the shade of light
on the curtain,
slowly revealing
my grey-ringed eyes.
In my mind, a vision
of the bathroom mirror
I dare not look in.

I stood at the top of the stairs
in last week's clothes,
stark naked in thought
of the door I stared down on;
things coming my way.
Things, not things;
beasts changing shifts.
