Though i hate being categorised, I'm probably what you'd call left of centre in my views and I try to be that way across the board.
What I hate, with blood-curdling rage, are those lefties that have strange blind spots in their views, piously railing against prejudice while blithely accepting it elsewhere. For example, I've had more than one person tell me that it's ok for muslims to be homophobic towards me because 'that's their culture', but jump on a great height against anyone that questions this. Anyone who objects is, of course, Islamophobic.
NO! Prejudice is wrong, whoever it comes from, whether it's a muslim or christian towards a gay person or a white racist against another ethnic group. or, for that matter, a gay person towards a muslim. Attack someone based on their views, by all means, but not on who they are.
Wankers like this just make the world worse, because they give the far-right a chance to bleat about unequal treatment.
I say again, wankers.

There are whack jobs on both sides of the aisle. It's basically the extremes that enrage me. Like PETA saying humans shouldn't eat animals when animals eat animals. BTW, I love animals, but PETA are nutjobs. The Westboro Baptist Church would be an example on the opposite end.

I would agree with you on that willonia, I'm veggie-but PETA seems to be more about pushing views than helping animals, I'm sure they do great things but most of the time I wish they would stop writing to me. They give animal rights activists a bad name.

You don't need to respect everything about a person to respect a person. Call me a lame fucking lefty if you want but if you need to generalise you need to at least think about another side of an argument, I respect people have different views, different physiological/psychological/cosmolocial/social features and as such all think differently. I believe carter is referring more along the lines of debating, but maybe not. Yes your views can define you, but when in discussion, the person who attacks the person making a point instead of the point itself is committing the most elementary of logical fallacies and thus will not be taken seriously by anyone with an actual interest in debate. |

I don't think people's views do actually define a person, there are many other parts to a person, as I stated in my last comment, what about the spiritual, physical, emotional, sexual and social aspects of a person? Increase the peace brothers and sisters. |
