Hi there, I run Wordlife, a poetry organisation that puts on events and publishes poetry every month in local magazine 'Now Then'. Just thought I'd put up some details in case anyone was interested.

All the best

Joe Kriss

27th November, Raynor Lounge, Sheffield Union. Doors 9pm.

Wordlife is back in The Raynor Lounge and bigger and better than ever before.

DR SYNTAX & STIG OF THE DUMP
Two of the uk's finest emcees grace Sheffield with their presence. Bringing all the usual comedy, wit and ridiculously phat beats this is a rare treat for real hip hop heads.
Spinning the tune for these two legends will be DJ MANIPULATE who's kindly offered a solo scratch showcase to warm us up.
Support comes in the form of Scarbourghrian legend,THE EDGER. This man was born to perform!

The spoken word will be supplied by four of the best:
ANDY CRAVEN-GRIFFITHS, KAYO CHINGONYI, MATT BLACK and the Wordlife resident MR JOE KRISS.

Andy Craven Griffiths returns to Wordlife after a successful gig last year, curator of Leeds night 'Sticks and Stones' and frontman for the band Middleman he is no stranger to putting on a show. Kayo Chingonyi has performed at venues from our own Raynor Lounge to Buckingham Palace and the Tate Modern, winning a few slam competitions along the way.The Rise Slam Champion 2005 and Roundhouse Slam Champion 2007 is welcomed back from London with open arms. Matt Black is a Sheffield poetry activist and a backbone of the local scene, he has recently released The Cooling Towers Farewell (CD version with music from Jack's Records).

With added bonus of records from the collective bags of THE MIGHTY MOJO (Platform Radio Liverpool), 4D (Opus) and MR REGGIE (Opus) this event is probably the best thing to happen in Sheffield since the recipe for Hendersons Relish was conjured up. Spicy.

Tickets are £5 and will be available from the Sheffield Student Union Box Office.

Bringing back Hip Hop.
