I apologize if this is addressed elsewhere, but what's up with the names? I'm Picasso, Ploe's Bukowski, etc. Are these just randomly assigned or is there a system behind it?

Hey Will,
To get the answer, think of what they've replaced...
These are the post-based groups found in any forum. Here the default was 'Newbie', 'Full Member' etc, but we decided to make them more interesting. The more posts, the more magnificent a figure you borrow the name of. And you'll notice that where you personally were a 'Hero member' with five stars, now you're 'Pablo Picassso' with three. That means cooler stuff to progress to... oooooh!
Carpe diem, Mike.

I'm a militant suffragette and Ploe is Bukowski. You sure you didn't just asign them yourself? =p

That sort of evidence seems damning, but the names were decided on without regard to individual members. Have to admit to a rather hefty belly-laugh when I saw those two, though. Proof, perhaps, that there is order to the universe? We are all puppets... Carpe diem, Mike.

Glad to hear it, Nancy! However, maybe you'll take the example of More in another way: if ever faced with a tyrannical leader, hopefully you'll resist to the end, without forsaking your principles. In today's compromised world, one of the hardest and noblest things to do...
Carpe diem, Mike.

You think you've got problems. I'm a macho American author that loves hunting, drinking and brawling. I like to write, but that's about the only connection! Carter.

Ooooh right on...having exhausted every author I've devoured I'm now moving into philospher territory
You wanna hear a joke about Nietzche ? Seen written on a T-shirt:
"GOD IS DEAD - Nietzsche"
on another T shirt:
"Nietzsche is dead - GOD"

wouldn't that be better if it was on the same t-shirt, front and back, rather than separate t-shirts?

Just to point out, I have no intentions of burning anyone on a stake.... yet ? Nancy! You're no longer a Tudor theologian. Now you're the beating heart of the Bloomsbury set! Carter.

I dislike these names. Why can't we just aspire to be ourselves? Why aren't we enough rather than pretending to be historical figures?
It would have made more sense to have categories or silly things.

It's an odd and interestin' concept,no doubt but one must think that these ranks are set out in such a way that a higher level of greatness is not, necessarily,in someone's opnion greater than the next...if ya follow?

Is there any way we can see how much we need to post to rise up in the ranks? I'm not particularly ambitious to be anyone else, but I'd rather not be Shelley. He was a hysterical ponce. Or, if you subscribe to Ploe's way of thinking, he was 'Frankenstein's husband.'
