American supermarkets have much more choice than UK I understand...just finished a very interesting little book about the history of Heinz Beans...apparently the American recipe is different to the English one. A doctor once told me that beans on toast is one of the best meals you can have...v. high protein value.

I love beans on toast. In moderation and with spacing between the days I eat it. It's lovely and warm and filling, and I love how the toast goes slightly soggy with bean juice.

Indeed indeed. Originally known as Navy Beans because they were a favourite of seafarers...so much choice these days...Mexican...Curry...Refr ied...you tried Boston Beans ? You add bacon and molasses and bake them in t'oven..rather remarkable the entire properties change. They develop a sort of Quatermass skin. Sorta Hadron Collider beans.
